Miko Peled, an Israeli-American human rights activist, will share his insights on “What’s Next for Palestine?” . Miko is the son of an Israeli General who served in the 1967 war and the grandson of a signer of the Israeli Declaration of Independence. He himself was a special forces Red Beret soldier in the Israeli military until he became disenchanted with the direction he saw his country taking and became a peace and human-rights activist. Miko has lectured widely in Europe, Australia and the United States. This will be a program in a talk show type format. Miko will be interviewed by David Banks, and then they will ask for questions from the audience. David Banks is the Program Director of Global Studies at SUNY Albany. This is a documentary that follows John Shipton’s journey around the globe and his advocacy for his son, Julian Assange, in the face of legal battles and media glare. It is a moving and intimate portrayal of one father’s fight to save his son. “Ithaka” exposes the brutal realities of the campaign to free Julian Assange. Julian Assange, the founder of WikiLeaks and the world’s most famous political prisoner, who has become a symbol in the international struggle for freedom of journalism, government corruption, and accountability for war crimes. With Julian now facing a potential 175-year sentence if extradited to the US, his family members are confronted with the harrowing possibility of losing him forever within the depths of the US justice system. The James Connolly Forum presents a talk by Scott Ritter and Dan Kovalik on the Ukraine War. Scott Ritter is an external Contributor to Energy Intelligence. He is a former US Marine Corps Intelligence Officer whose service over a 20-plus-year career included tours of duty in the former Soviet Union implementing arms control agreements, serving on the staff of US Gen. Norman Schwarzkopf during the Gulf War and later as a Chief Weapons Inspector with the UN in Iraq from 1991-98. His latest book is Disarmament in the Time of Perestroika. Dan Kovalik graduated from Columbia Law School in 1993, and currently teaches International Human Rights at the University of Pittsburgh School of Law. He served as in-house counsel for the United Steelworkers for 26 years. He is the author of many books including The Plot to Overthrow Venezuela, How the US Is Orchestrating a Coup for Oil, which includes a Foreword by Oliver Stone..
