Friday, April 19, 5:30 – 8:00 pm, Delmar Reformed Church, 386 Delaware Ave, Delmar, N. Y . Pot luck at 5:30 pm, Program begins at 6:30 pm, Bethlehem Neighbors for Peace 20+ Year Anniversary Celebration, and talk by Keren Carmeli. We will begin the evening with a pot luck appetizers and desserts, starting at 5:30 pm. ( Please bring a pot luck dish to share. If possible, bring your own table setting and a bag to put it in, to bring it home after use.) We will have live music by Terry Phelan and Terry Roben, peace items such as books and t-shirts available for a donation, a word from our candidates who are promoting peace, and a talk by Keren Carmeli. Keren Carmeli is a member of the Albany chapter of Jewish Voice for Peace. She is an anti-Zionist Israeli-American who was raised in Israel, and draws on her family’s Holocaust survival story to inform her dedication to the liberation of Palestine. Presentation on the Jenin Freedom Theatre by Felice Gelman, followed by a Bethlehem Neighbors for Peace general meeting.   Felice Gelman is on the Board of Friends of the Jenin Freedom Theatre. The Freedom Theatre is a Palestinian community-based theatre and cultural center in the Jenin refugee camp, in Jenin, in the northern part of the West Bank, Palestine.  Jenin has been repeatedly attacked by the Israeli army over the last months.  Join us in our efforts to advocate for peace and justice. Tom Ellis Talk on ” Are economic sanctions weapons of war?” Tom Ellis is a leader in several social justice groups including the Palestinian Rights Committee of Upper Hudson Peace Action. Tom is also a member of Save the Pine Bush and the Solidarity Committee of the Capital District and he regularly contributes articles to their newsletters.
